Record a live meeting
Overview
This article explains how to record a live meeting by manually adding a Notetaker. This is useful when you have a meeting that is not on your calendar or when automatic Notetaker joining is not enabled for your account.
What is recording a live meeting?
Recording a live meeting allows you to manually send your Notetaker to join an active meeting. This is sometimes called an "ad-hoc" meeting because the Notetaker joins on demand rather than automatically from a calendar event.
When to use this feature
Use this feature when:
- You have a spontaneous meeting that is not on your calendar
- You want the Notetaker to join a meeting scheduled by someone else
- Automatic Notetaker joining is not enabled for your user account
- You need to quickly record a meeting that is about to start
Requirements
Before recording a live meeting, ensure the following:
- Meeting recording must be enabled for your organization
- Supported platforms - The meeting must be on Google Meet or Microsoft Teams
- Meeting timing - The meeting must be happening now or about to start (future scheduling is not supported)
- Valid meeting link - You need the full meeting URL
How to record a live meeting
- Navigate to CRM > My Meetings.
- Click the Record a live meeting button.
- Paste the meeting URL into the Meeting link field.
- Click Record.
The Notetaker joins the meeting immediately and begins taking notes once the meeting starts.
Copy the meeting link directly from your calendar invitation or video conferencing app to ensure you have the correct URL.

What happens after you record a live meeting
Once you start recording a live meeting:
- The Notetaker joins the meeting within a few seconds
- When the meeting ends, the recording and transcript are processed
- You can view the recording and AI insights from the Recordings tab
- The meeting is private by default and visible only to meeting participants

Frequently asked questions
Can I schedule a recording for a meeting in the future?
No. When you use Record a live meeting, the Notetaker joins immediately. For meetings scheduled in the future, add the meeting to your calendar and enable automatic Notetaker joining.
Why can I not see the Record a live meeting button?
The button may not appear if meeting recording is not enabled for your organization. Contact your administrator to enable this feature.
Can I record a Zoom meeting?
No. Record a live meeting currently supports Google Meet and Microsoft Teams only.
What if the Notetaker does not join the meeting?
Verify that:
- The meeting URL is correct and complete
- The meeting is currently active or about to start
- The meeting is on Google Meet or Microsoft Teams
If the issue persists, try copying the meeting link again from your calendar or meeting invitation.
Will the Notetaker announce itself when it joins?
This depends on your Notetaker settings. You can configure whether the Notetaker announces itself and displays a compliance message in your recording settings.
