What type of a Certificate should I purchase?

There are a few reasons why a Wildcard Certificate would benefit you more than a Single-Name Certificate. Most importantly, your Listing Builder My Listing will benefit from higher search engine rankings with a Wildcard SSL extended to it.

If you are still unsure of which certificate is right for you, consider the below information:

 1.  A Single-Name Certificate will secure the root domain and a single subdomain. IE, login.yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com.  A Wildcard Certificate can secure your root domain name (yourdomain.com) as well as an unlimited number of subdomains (login.yourdomain.com, social.yourdomain.com, etc).

2.  Both Single-Name Certificates and Wildcard Certificates provide the same level of encryption, but the Wildcard Certificate extends that security to all first-level sub-domains of a domain name.

3.  A Single-Name Certificate is typically the most inexpensive type of SSL certificate that can be purchased. However a Wildcard certificate can be even more cost-effective if you have more than one URL to secure, as a single Wildcard certificate can be applied to all of your current and future subdomains!
