Mar. 8, 2017: Two important changes to the Listing Score algorithm

Note: We are implementing these two changes over the course of March 8th and 9th.

We've made two major updates to the Listing Score algorithm. These updates have simultaneously increased and decreased your clients’ scores as well as their industry averages.

Providing points for listings on the data aggregators

What did we change? Your clients can now get up to 200 additional points by establishing accurate listings on the four major data providers. The new scores are as follows:

  • 50 points for a listing that’s 100% accurate.
  • 30 points for a listing that’s 60%-99% accurate.
  • 10 points for a listing that’s 20%-59% accurate.
  • 0 points for a listing that’s less than 20% accurate.

Why did we make this change? To accurately reflect the impact that accurate listings on the data aggregators (Acxiom, Factual, Infogroup, and Neustar Localeze) have on online visibility. This will also help you sell Listing Distribution.

What impact did this change have? Your clients may have seen a sudden increase in their Listing Scores.

Reducing the impact of citations on the Listing Score

What did we change? Citations now count for a lower percentage of the Listing Score. In other words, the score will still continue to grow as your clients generate more citations, but it will grow at a slower rate.

Why did we make this change? To accurately represent the impact that citations have on online visibility, versus that of business listings (such as Google, Facebook, and Bing).

What impact did this change have? Your clients may have seen a sudden decrease in their Listing Scores. Meanwhile, they may have also seen a sudden decrease in their industry averages.

Note: These two changes had no effect on partners that are using the old percentage-based Listing Score.
