What is happening and why?
In August of 2022, Website Pro experienced a significant outage due to the domain websitepro.hosting being locked after a phishing site was reported on the domain. While the team’s ability to respond to these outages has improved significantly, there is still a small chance that something could happen to cause the websitepro.hosting domain to be locked. To minimize the impact of this kind of event, we have acquired two new domains that would not be affected in the event that websitepro.hosting becomes unavailable. This would protect websites with custom domains and also ensure that the Website Pro dashboard remains accessible.
What is it?
Extra domains are now being used in the website pro tool. The domain websitepro.hosting will continue to be used for the default domain for websites that do not have a custom domain. The website pro dashboard has changed to use websiteprodashboard.com as the domain. Additionally, a new CNAME record has been made available called websiteprohosting.com to be used for websites with a custom domain.
What do I need to do?
No action is required to be taken for websites to continue to be available. However, if you have any bookmarks set up to take you directly to the website pro dashboard, these bookmarks will need to be updated. Additionally, if you would like to make use of the new CNAME record, you can update your DNS settings to the following.
Name: www
Value: host.websiteprohosting.com
TTL: leave as default
